A favorite band of local Pensacola natives (as well as having a growning number of fans all over), Longreef from Australia is releasing there 2nd EP ‘Dirty Motel’ to rave reviews. Now available packaged at their live shows (see the Longreef Tour Schedule) and including a bonus DVD ‘Live at the Boulevard’, Longreef’s latest offering is sure to please fans and new listeners alike. The EP is also scheduled to be released on iTunes June 12th.
The EP starts out with the soon to be released to radio, ‘She Likes The Ladies’ - a rocking tune that is one of those songs that you will be singing along to in no time, with the hard driving vocals from lead singer Josh Barker, this one is sure to climb the charts! The title track ‘Dirty Motel’ starts out with a signature funky guitar lick from resident guitar master Nick Miller, and builds up with a sharp bass line from the slap guru Jim Wark growing to a fevered pitch with the hard driving beat from Aaron Carruthers mad pounding drum skills. The next song ‘How Long’ starts out a bit slower, with Josh’s vocals just dripping with the emotion of the song, and then breaking into an always well done chorus. ‘Want Me Back’ (which is as of this writing, currently available as a free download at artistdirect.com) is quickly becoming a crowd favorite at their live shows, and showcases all of the band members talents. The EP ends with the beautiful ballad ‘Sweet Emotion’ which is a song that Longreef has been playing as a fan favorite since early 2011.
You can hear the tightness of Longreef which has been honed by constantly touring and practicing until their songs are perfect, and the band never disappoints at their live shows. With a busy tour schedule this coming summer that will take them north to Wisconsin and along the beaches of the East Coast, and will see them playing concerts with Puddle of Mudd in Wisconsin, and at the Verizon Wireless American Music Festival 2012 in Virginia Beach with Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult, O.A.R, and Train. Longreef is taking the country by storm with their amazing music and down to earth Aussie charm.
You can see Longreef play here locally this Friday night, May 18th at the Fish House, but they won’t return until October so get your Longreef fix now!
